A Little Bit About Me...

I would describe my teaching style as flexible. I believe that students learn differently and it's up to the teacher to adjust accordingly. My greatest asset as a teacher is my patience. If a student doesn't get it it's no problem. We just do it again and perhaps in a different manner. I do believe that all students are capable of learning and it's up to the teacher to lead the students in the right direction. Learning should be fun and and I believe maintaining a positive environment, giving encouragement and never giving up on the student.

In over five years of teaching and tutoring I have found that many students need to achieve some type of success with school. Many students have gotten behind or had bad experiences in school and if a teacher can give them some form of success in school they often turn a corner and begin to improve in their studies. With continued positive reinforcement and encouragement many students will become more diligent in their studies. I have also found that many students need basic student skills--how to study, how to prepare for a test, and basic strategies for taking tests. In Shanghai I specialized in those students who had gotten behind.
I just returned to the US from Shanghai where I worked as a teacher of Science, Social Studies, English and Literature. I have extensive experience as a teacher and tutor. I am very good with students and have over 5 years experience teaching and tuto ... read more

Teaching is one of passions as I am always interested in learning. I feel that the quality of the knowledge obtained rests without doubt in the ambitions the student possesses challenging the teacher to present his best. I have taught and cared after juveniles up to 14 years old, girls, boys, chalenged and all. Planning, daycare and one on one instruction were all on the agenda which helped sharpen my teaching skills
As ambitious a student in the classroom as in life I have completed over 180 college credits at age 24. With a preference in sciences most of these credits were completed however my interest expands far beyond the realm into most every subject. Proof of this is shown by the length of my undergraduate work, six years with enlightening pauses in between to broaden my mind through travel. Biology is my strong suit however math such as physics, calculus and even chemistry ... read more

I learned at a young age that everyone is different when it comes to learning. My goal as a teacher is to learn the student’s needs and apply a curriculum that will help the student reach their potential. I have great communication skills and I love to communicate with my students I ask them question to get to know them. I am very responsible, and understanding.
I graduated from the University of California Santa Barbara two years ago with two degrees in Spanish Literature and Women’s Studies I graduated with honors from both subjects of study. I graduated with an AA Degree in Liberal Studies from Allan Hancock Community College. Conversational. From what I learned in Taiwan little kids are not for me. This is the truth. Kids at about 14 or 15 and older are much preferred. I don't think I am animated enough for younger children...well, not a GROUP of younger children anyway. When it comes to one on one though, it is much different I am sure. I like to give ideas on how to sound out words, remember grammar/math tricks and things like that.
I double majored in Biology and English with a Bachelor of Science degree from a very well known, highly esteemed University in Wisconsin. I went to Taiwan for two months from March-May 2010 and helped teach in a "Bushiban" or cram school to kids aged 6-15. I am currently looking for a full-time job relating to my degree.

I enjoy teaching, which is something I received from my father, who would often help me with my homework when I was a boy. I am patient and am willing to work with students at their level. It is important to show students good work habits and a sense of fulfillment when they complete the tasks assigned to them by their teachers. It gives them confidence to go beyond their expectations.

I like to see children succeed, especially if I contribute to that progress. Teaching has been personal to me as I have regularly helped my nephew many times with his homework when he was younger. My goal is for students to reach success - whether it is to help students understand a concept or to help them solve a problem correctly, I am reluctant to quit and I keep working until students are on the right path or until they have reached their goal. I aspire for students to reach beyond their horizon by attempting more difficult levels once they have mastered the level of learning that they are at.
Living with a disability has posed more challenges in my education than the average person, yet I have faced these challenges and overcome them. I love to learn and to teach others. I have had many teachers (in 2 different countries) and I have noticed that there are many that are VERY good at their subject, but they cannot teach it well to their students which I think should be as important. As a Math tutor I heard that comment often about some teachers. Patience and time is crucial and so is relating theoretical problems to practical problems and/or relating them to something the students can relate to. I am a good listener, easy going, give a lot of encouragements, and joke around which all helps the learning experience. I believe everybody can learn and excel in good environments.
I have tutored fellow students, my son's friends, my friends, and family up through the years. Officially I have worked as a Math tutor individually and in the Math Center, and corrected math homework at the local college for 2 semesters. I ... read more

In this experience I added knowledge to small groups of students about biblical history.
Each child has a different learning ability. The best way I feel for success of a child would be a one to one or small group teaching style. This will provide the teacher to student kind of relationship where the teacher may know the level of each student.
