As a private tutor, I have worked with business and academic professionals in the following areas: accent reduction, grammar, writing, and conversation. I have also worked with numerous elementary, middle, and high school students to improve their English skills. I ran an English immersion program for Korean kindergarten students which followed an American first-grade reading/writing curriculum.
I have high expectations of my adult students, but am understanding of the limited time most have. Therefore, I try to maximize class time and try to be flexible with scheduling. For my younger students, I prepare engaging lesson plans to foster a genuine interest in the subjects taught. All classes receive a monthly syllabus, and I t ... read more

More About This Tutor...

I am a second year UW Madison student pursuing a math degree. I have completed Calculus 1, Calculus 222, Calculus 234, Calculus 3 based engineering statistics, and Actuarial Science (a class designed to prepare actuarial students for the P exam). Next semester I will take Linear Algebra and the Basic Concepts of Math. I enjoy working with young people very much, and I have an intense passion for math, so I have chosen to pursue a career in Math education. During my freshman year at UW Madison, I volunteered weekly at Sennett Middle School to tutor students in math and science. It was exciting to watch these young students improve their knowledge and skills.
From my tutoring experiences last year, my teaching style would best be described as very proactive. Many of the students were extremely frustrated by the concepts that they did not understand. This created an apatheti ... read more
