I am a graduate from Gonzaga University with a Bachelors of Science degree with a major in Human Physiology and plan to attend the University of Colorado for my masters degree in Integrative Physiology. I have taken many classes and seminars regarding personalities and teaching styles. I believe this is why when one of my daughters, now 16 years old, was having trouble in the third grade I pulled her and her twin sister and home schooled them through eighth grade. They now go to Santiam Christian where they excel - in fact the Admissions Coordinator told me that she has never seen kids do so well coming from a home school environment. I introduce every new math idea in the purest conceptual form, and then I show the student the practical use they can apply in their homework or on tests. I am a big fan of flashcards or a sheet of notes that reflect everything we learned in the session together. It enables me to show the parents our progress, as well as a resource for the student to refer to for help during homework or test prep.
