My comments on tutoring Elementary Phonics : Was a Nanny for young children, have a BA in English

While in College I was a part time nanny for a single Mom with twins. I started taking care of the twins when they were 2 and continued until they were almost 4. I was an assistant teacher part time at little playmates preschool daycare. During my time there I worked with the 2 and 3 year old class and the 4 and 5 year old class. I also helped the older children with homework. I was responsible for helping with meals, playtime and supervising outside activities. I also volunteered at the learning tree center daycare preschool where I helped with story time and art activities. I was a religious education teacher from 2003 to 2004. My teaching career began as an Educational Assistant in 1977, in the state of California. Because of my daughter's medical needs, I was not able to finish my education as planned. Fortunately, I did not give up, I resumed my studies and in 2006, I earned my teaching degree. I'm endorsed in TESOL, Modern Classical Languages, and Bilingual Education.

After graduating from the University of Wisconsin- Eau Claire, my wife and I moved to South Korea and taught English. This opportunity allowed us to gain teaching experience and become absorbed in another culture. Upon completing our one year contract we then decided to move to Costa Rica and continue teaching English for six months. I am currently working on a Ph.D. at UNM and plan to become a professor.
