My comments on tutoring Political Science : Many years of experience incorporating it into US History.

Prefer to meet one-on-one or small group instruction in a neutral location, such as a library or eatery. I am very flexible to adapt to change to the needs of the student.
I have retred after 33 years of teaching. 32 years of primarily teaching history or social studies subjects. I also have 15 years of teaching in schools for the deaf, there is some overlap of deaf education and social studies education. I am National Board Certified as a teacher. Then, I establish a baseline of what they have learned so that I can direct my attention to their strengths and weaknesses. Finally, I get into the material with the student and show them how and why the material is important and applicable in the world in which we live.

I believe most students can succeed if they are taught good studying skills. I teach study skills, organizational skills, and note taking skills. I do not only teach names, dates, and places but I also teach them to learn to be able to retell the narrative which helps them to remember the names, dates and places.
I have a Master of Arts degree in US History. I also teach online for a major online university. This has helped to me to understand what a student needs to know in order to succeed in college today. I am a graduate of the University of Southern MS, with a undergraduate in Business Marketing. I began teaching and tutoring in 2008-2009 school for Jackson Public Schools. I underwent the Alternative Route for teaching for ceritification. I am the Aaccelerated Reader Coordinator for Lee Elementary School. I also serve as Head Librarian for the school as well. Our school has implemented a plan in which Resource staff tutors daily. I tutor grades 3-5 in areas of Mathematics, Reading and Language Arts.
