A Little Bit About Me...

I have worked with preschoolers and children K-8. Furthermore, I have tutored in Reading Comprehension, Math, Writing Skills, and Spanish. I have worked as an Office Manager, where I used Word, Excel, Powerpoint and Data Entry programs. Tutoring children in Reading Comprehension gave me great satisfaction because most of them made great improvements, and were able to raise their grades in this subject. My comments on tutoring Algebra I : I have been helping students with algebra since college. I have a BA in molecular cell biology from UC Berkeley. I have worked for large test prep companies since college.

I have enjoyed tutoring since high school. During college, I tutored college level math and chemistry. After college I worked for a large test prep company teaching SAT prep courses in various high schools. My education background is in biology (BA Molecular & Cell Biology, UC Berkeley) so I especially love tutoring science and math. My expertise is in standardized test prep (mainly SAT and GRE for graduate schools). My experience is not only tutoring and teaching, but also developing test prep material for both SAT and GREs
Most tutors merely act as a solutions manual for off the shelf test prep books. I believe in providing my students a fully comprehensive curricula that covers both strategy and subject matter. Algebra I is one of my top subjects!

I've always enjoyed helping others understand mathematics. During my high school years i would voluntarily help my friends, and the classmates near me keep up with class lectures and provide them with tips to help them complete take home assignments. I know the importance of having a personalized method of teaching according to the individual and their specific needs. No one learns the same so we should not be taught the same!
Most of the students who require tutoring have trouble building on previous lessons they have learned. The problem is if a student fails to learn a concept in class by the time the teacher moves on, he/she will be left behind from that point on. The job of a tutor is to find these hold ups and patch them with a customized lesson plan to fit the students learning patterns. This is what i will do and i personally promise results in under a month

Keep it Simple

I have been at the top of my class in Mathematics ever since the first grade. In 7th grade I took and passed Algebra 1, which is a 9th grade level class. Ever since that I've taken classes in math that are two years ahead of my grade, up to Calculus 2 in 11th grade. I passed the AP test for calculus 1 and 2 in high school. My SAT score in math was 670 in 2009 which was higher than 89% of the graduating high school class in the nation.
I like to keep things simple, in class they make it sound complicated but in reality the process is quite the opposite and I can demonstrate effective ways to study and master the topics I am educated in. I can relate to most students, since I am only 19 years old and I'm a student myself at Fresno State University.
