My comments on tutoring Literature: Literature is a broad subject with many niches, so it is easier to just mention the areas I am most proficient, and leave out the ones I am not. I know quite a bit about British Romanticism, of the poets Blake, Wordsworth, Coleridge, Byron, Shelley, Keats, and I know about the cultural and intellectual changes that these poets were concerned with. I also know a lot about modernism, which is the early 20th century movement, involving James Joyce, Virginia Woolf and the poets Eliot, Pound and others. Walt Whitman is a paticular favorite poet of mine, on whom I can elaborate a great deal. Literature of course is so broad that I have a lot of experience in other places, but I am not expert enough in all of those places to feel confortable tutoring them, though those mentioned above, I am okay with.

My name is Eric Fisher Stone and I graduated with B.A. from Texas Christian University in the summer of 2008. I attended graduate school directly after, and acquired 20 graduate hours and the University of Idaho’s MFA in Creative Writing Program where I taught freshmen composition. I currently live in Fort Worth, Texas in the zip code of 76133. My main areas of expertise are creative writing, and poetry. I can also teach fiction writing because I have some experience in that as well, having a fiction publication in Descant, Fort Worth’s Journal of Fiction and Poetry. I maintained, in my English major, a GPA of 3.7. My knowledge of literature overall is pretty solid and it is strongest in British Romanticism and American Transcendentalism (meaning American poets like Whitman and thinkers such as Emerson and Thoreau.) With Shakespeare, the plays I am most knowledgeable in are, “A Midsummer ... read more

I'm Ebony! I graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor's in Cognitive Studies and Education, and earned a Master's degree with distinction in Curriculum and Instruction. I am a Cognitive Specialist/neuroeducator whose sole objective is bridging the divide between the student and the content, using methods based on the individual's learning style. As I think back to when I have achieved most success as a student, it was always because of a phenomenal educator who taught the content in ways that appealed to my learning style. I was immersed in the content, and I thrived because of it. I provide the same instructional strategies and experiences for my students, who vary from children with neurological differences such as Autism, Dyslexia, and other learning differences, to gifted students, to adults who never learned how to read or perform mathematics. I've taught in various fields for over

I have been a freelanced graphic designer for many years now. I have a vast knowledge of the Adobe Creative Suite. I know a thing, or two about illustrating. I was the youngest in my class to graduate under the Visual Communications curriculum. And I also possess other sets of skills, which I would be happy to show off (And teach). I think of my student as more of a partner. As in, I try to help them out in any way possible.

A solid literary foundation facilitates my 38-year career as a teacher who continues to earn most of his living as a writer. I am foremost a writer whose 38-year, award-winning career is rooted in journalism. However, I also have an extensive teaching background. I have taught writing labs at St. Thomas University – Miami, Florida (1987-88), Mississippi State University (1988-89) and Texas A&M University (1989-93); and I currently offer tutoring services to 10th- and 11th-grade foreign exchange students from all over the world. Some of my tutoring involves preparing students to take the college-entrance SAT. I am particularly qualified to do this from a writing perspective, because the College Board contracts me each year to assess the essays students submit as part of their SAT testing. In a similar fashion, Pearson Education, Inc. employs me each year to assess essays

I spent over 20 years as a graphic designer for various colleges and universities. In that time I used my office as an educational opportunity for my student assistants, but I always had the desire to teach. In 2011 I returned to school for my Teacher Certification in English Language Arts and Reading grades 8-12. I have since then taught English I, II, III and IV, Recovery Reading for 9th and 10th graders, as well as Art and Yearbook. My experience has taught me that every child has a tremendous capacity to learn and excel, but not all know how to unlock that capacity. My job is to find the unique key that will help each child reach his or her potential. My style of teaching is real-world understanding and application firmly based on theory. In other words, I teach how to accomplish each element, but why it is important to do so. In my instruction, I establish goals and create ac

Unorthodox is the best way to describe my teaching style. Unorthodox in that I will change my approach or activities based on student comprehension. Unorthodox in that I truly believe that for every student who is confused or doesn’t understand a concept, there is a teacher who didn’t do their job. My greatest strength lies in creating lessons and activities where students will want to engage. Engagement leads to a permanent investment. When a student is engaged by a lesson, they will remember that lesson. To introduce Edgar Allan Poe’s “The Cask of Amontillado,” my students played "Who's crazier: Edgar Allan Poe or Mrs. W’s Mom or Dad???” After reading a series of statements such as: “Removed tires from daughter’s car for talking back” “Married his first cousin,” students would guess if it was Poe or my mom/dad. The level of participation in class that day and the days that followed wa

I have student taught for the past seven years. I have tutored countless individuals in English, Drama and American Sign Language. I am fluent in ASL and am very confident in my ability to teach others the beautiful language. I was heavily involved in theater for the past fifteen years and I can say that my experience has taught me more than any coach could and I am more than willing to share my experience. I took upper level English courses for the past six years and took teaching courses. My teaching style is a demonstrator. I like teacher-centered classes with an emphasis on demonstration and modeling. I try to act like a role model by demonstrating skills and processes and then as a guide in helping students develop apply theses skills and knowledge.

over 6 hrs college coursework completed in different genres of lit as well as a few minor lit awards and continuing self taught student of lit I've either taught or tutored in some form or fashion for over 17yrs now. I've had ages 3yrs to 22yrs old covering all manner of subjects and hobbies. One of my most rewarding experience was with an 18 year old special needs 10th grader ready to drop out of school. We met 2-3x a week for 6mths. In that time he raised his GPA from 1.2 to 2.7. He completed his 10th grade year and went on to take and pass the G.E.D. the following year. I would describe my teaching style as dynamic, creative student-centered

30+ years high school/college teaching experience. I have used a variety of textbooks, technology, and media and am willing to and could easily adapt to others' teaching styles or requests. I have the belief that hands on usage, be it writing or speaking or peer teaching, supersedes passive practice eg. reading, listening, copying, rote memorization of passages or terminology, etc. Activity and involvement lend credence and joy to language learning.
