I'm an undergraduate at the university of Louisville. I major in biology with a minor in spanish . I was on the spanish team in high school, and also received a biology scholarship to the university. I tutor my sister she is in the 7th grade, I help her with math and science. My other sister comes to me when she needs help in math , when there are problems she doesn't understand. I also help people in college who don't quite understand the given material and I break it down and take time to go over it and teach it and a way they might understand.

A Little Bit About Me...

When I substitute for a teacher, I want to see a lesson plan. I do not want to be the classroom babysitter. If there is no plan for the day I involve the students in making one. I'm currently working on obtaining my teaching certificate, to go along with my bachelors degree in Social Science. Hopefully, I will be able to go on to receive my Masters in Education. I have been able to tutor students in reading, sentence structure, English and American history.
I love teaching and interacting with today's young kids. They fascinate me. While working at Thornhill Education Center, I had the opportunity to work with students and help teach GED classes. My main focus was math. I also had the opportunity to teach a level 1 accounting class for community education.
I don't think I have really developed a "unique style" by only teaching a year or so. I am a very patient person and I really like to see the "sparkle" in a students eye, when they truly understand something for the 1st time. I have taken education classes at Northern Kentucky University. At one point, I was considering on being a Art Teacher. I didn't finish with that path, but I did gain much experience with children and knowledge during that time in working with students. I have worked and studied special needs children as well. I still consider going back for a Master's at some point in education. I think this job would be beneficial in my goals, and for my students, and a great learning experience for us both.
I am not overbearing. I am laid back, but at the same time, I make sure that the student learns what he/she needs to learn. I am very patient. I try to respect the student and not make learning seem like a chore.
