A Little Bit About Me...

I love teaching and appreciate that subjects such as chemistry can be very difficult for young people. This difficulty is often present for two reasons. The first is that chemistry is not necessarily intuitive. It studies particles that are too small to see and cannot be observed directly. The second is that most of the basic theory is derived with very advanced math and most students are taking chemistry in the tenth or eleventh grade. This means that a conceptual understanding is crucial to success. I attempt to employ easy examples and analogies while patiently talking through problems and constructively giving students a chance to discover answers.

I don't think there is anything better than the feeling of helping a child learn. Every student have the ability to learn, we have to adapt our teaching styles so that all students can understand. I began school as a Biology major for 2 years, so I have a great science background. I love to teach children. I finished my Masters program in December 07 and began teaching at the school I did my internship at, Briarcliff MS. I taught grades 6-8 and filled in for a Special Ed teacher at the end of the year. Also during that time I tutored a group of 6 graders in Math.
