A Little Bit About Me...

Tutoring should be a tool used to complement traditional education. When tutoring there is little help in providing information to the student the same way that the teacher presents it. Tutors may also fall into the trap of simply giving the student the answers. For these reasons I prefer an holistic approach to tutoring. Every student is different and they all have different ways of understanding the material. As I am tutoring I keep in mind that I am also learning, keeping an open mind about the way a students is learning helps me to determine the best method of teaching the subject at hand.
I spent nine semester at FMCC in the TRiO Student Support Services program. I began as a part time tutor and after one semester the program director saw it prudent to keep me on. A Little Bit About Me...

Having completed my B.A. in Mathematics, with a minor in adolescent education, a Computer Science degree, and graduating with a 3.65 GPA, and a 4.0 in content has fueled my success. Combining that with presently finishing my Masters in Teaching with Technology, three years of teaching mathematics and 5 years of tutoring experience, in which I tutored several subjects I feel that I have a lot to add to the success of students. To go along with my education, I have completed several science courses as well as Spanish courses. A second language is required in order to become a certified teacher, as well as a baseline test aligned with all courses in a high school curriculum, in my current state.

I've enjoyed working with students of all ages, background and grade level in coursework such as Math,Science,Computer and Engineering courses from seventh grade through undergraduate college. By teaching concepts rather than memorization skills that usually bore the student I work with each student and their own "easiest way" of learning to increase skills and self-confidence. I'm dedicated to each individual student and will work hard with each to improve their coursework through study habits, homework assignments and test preparation.
