I believe students learn best in a situation they feel safe in. Not all students learn at the same pace, learning style, or level. I take these things into consideration as I am planning lessons. I usually try a varity of ways to get the lesson across, through group teaching, buddy system, one-on-one, worlshops, stations, games, what have you. It depends on my students and the lesson.
I am a graduate of Cetral Washington University, with a BA in Elementary Education and a Minor in Reading. Before enrolling at the university and during my time there, I worked with elementary school children, helping them with Reading, Writing and Math skills. A Little Bit About Me...

I have work with special education student, as well as advance placement student. I have only noticed one difference with each group and that is the pace that the classroom goes in. Although I enjoy working with small groups or one on one with student I believe that I am able to work with more then ten students at a time. I really try to let the kids explain to me how they interoperate the dictation first and then help them a long. I let all the students do as much as they can on their own, I believe is the best way to assists a child which I have done volunteering at the Land L Learning center, I worked with young age group going into first and six grade to help them get up to grade level in reading. My goal as I help every child that I work with is to get them to be able to do it on their own with out any help by the end of the year.

I have been tutoring as a volunteer and as a job for a combined 7 years now. I have worked in both one on one tutoring with a dyslexic student, tutoring in specialized topics, and group peer tutoring. My longest individual tutoring experience has been with Aidan, who is dyslexic and I have been working with for 4 years.
