I am here to help students improve in specific subjects and excel academically as a whole. My greatest attributes are patience, perseverance, and hard-work. I always arrive on time and I take work and school seriously. I will be a source of encouragement and support for my students. In a small way, I hope to also be a source of inspiration for my students as they carve their own academic paths.
I benefited from the liberal arts education I received from the University of Puget Sound, which offered a diverse selection of classes and an exploratory environment in which to pursue my studies. For two years, I studied Chemistry and Biology while also taking classes in the Humanities. Over the past 15 years, I have taught in both special education and standard classrooms for children ages 5-9, I have tutored and served as a private teacher for children ages 5-17, and have homeschooled my own children. I am very interested in understanding how the brain works to process information and how that understanding can be used to empower children to learn life-long skills for learning. I have a special interest in literacy and using the arts to facilitate learning.
