David J - Athens, ME 04912 (21.7 mi) - College Algebra II Tutor - $33.50/hr.
I have experience as an instructor while in the Marine Corps, and during that time I have found that I am really suited to teaching. The idea of giving new knowledge to people of all ages is an exciting one. I have done some substitute teaching at Athens Elementary School. I have found that I get along well with children and that they like me. I have found that children like me and will listen to what I have to say. I try and teach the best way possible according to each child's needs. I am patient and will take as much time that is needed to teach your child. To me time is of no importance compared to children's need to learn.

Beth H - Salem Township, ME 04983 (26.1 mi) - College Algebra II Tutor - $39.00/hr.
For the past five years I have been a substitute teacher for MSAD 58. Grade levels I have experience with include K through 12. While I have subbed in all subjects, I really enjoy working with secondary level students in mathematics. A few years ago I filled in for a high school teacher for six weeks. I even got to plan lessons and grade work. I really enjoyed the time I spent with these students helping them pass their Algebra Competency exams. Because I have substituted at all grade levels and with all ability levels, I know how different each and every student learns. It is important to first get to know the individual and ascertain what techniques will work best for them. Mutual respect is very important. A major key to learning success is confidence. If you show the student respect, they will have more confidence in themselves. Children have a way of giving adults exactly

Wendy J - Clinton, ME 04927 (42 mi) - College Algebra II Tutor - $36.00/hr.
Everyone has their own way of learning. The key is to figure that way out and use it to their advantage. If the person is a slow learner, then a slower approach is necessary. If the person is a fast learner, then a faster approach is required. I did tutoring as a high school student. I tutored other students in math. The tutoring program also placed me in kindergarten and first grade classes to help the teacher where needed. I have two children that are always asking how to do things. In addition, I have tutored adult friends for the GED test and the Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB). I have finished the Income Tax Course with H&R Block at the end of 2010.
