I like to make teaching fun! If a student is bored they aren't going to be putting 100% into their work. I also use a positive reward system and celebrate all achievement. Even if it is minor.
I have been working with kids of all ages for a long time. I love to see them learn and grow. That moment when they "get" something is magical! I have been working with children for more than 20 years, as a tutor and mentor. My profession and academic education was in business and psychology, but my passion has always been working with children. My teaching style is best described as adaptive. We all learn differently, some more so by doing, others by seeing or listening, and others by thinking it through. Learning is a combination of processes, emphasizing what works best. For me, the approach is to use what works best for the student to learn what needs to be learned, with the underlying objective of the student learning how to learn - meaning a self-awareness of what works best for him or her. The tough learning is slugging it through the stuff that we just don’t seem to get or seems to have no value in our future lives. I feel that I am a natural educator. When I graduated from high school, I went to college and completed my AA degree. I wanted out of college and immediately started working and making money. Eventually I realized how much I wanted to further my degree so I returned and I completed my bachelor's degree in two and a half years. It was the best choice I have ever made.
