I have also home schooled adopted daughters from lower grades to high school level, including teaching English as a second language. In graduate school I was a teaching assistant in an electric machinery laboratory for non-electrical engineering majors. My own experience with standardized tests includes having taken the ACT in 1971 with scores ranging from 22 (76th percentile) in English to 31 (97th percentile) in math with a composite of 27 (93rd percentile) and having passed the GRE in 1975. Any To teach, one needs three skills: the ability to relate to a student, the skills necessary to convey leaning, and subject knowledge. I'm proficient in these skills. I have a degree in chemistry with a minor in math. Taught all the maths in night school to students seeking associate degrees. And most importantly, I use math all the time in my business as a wealth manager having designed screens and a rating system all supported by algebra.

One on one or group. Lessons taught, homework assigned, then follow up of homework assignment. My experience, (both academic and work)has been widely varied, ranging from research and engineering to financial management in a corporate environment, followed by golf course design and landscape management. In addition I used my experience in construction and woodworking to build and market patio furniture. Unfortunately the housing depression of the mid 2000's caused the business to be non profitable and was closed. Since 2005 I have been semi retired and used my construction experience to work at a lumber and hardware store.

I entered Virginia Tech as an honors math and physics student and graduated in three years with my BS in physics. At the moment I am trying to decide if I would like to go to grad school to continue on to something else, hopefully with math and physic as at least peripherally relevant. I have never taught a class and have tutored in only in a limited capacity. I however was apart of Virginia Tech's first Physics education class and program and found that I really actually enjoy teaching for teaching's sake. I hope that my limited experience won't scare people away; I am very passionate about these subjects and I would enjoy building up my experience and resume so that I can become an even better educator. My major complaint with the current pedagogy of STEM fields is there focus on teaching students to be able to produce answers so a slew of canned and frankly uninteresting problem s

I can be strict but I do show empathy and try to put myself in other's situation. I don't judge I believe every child learns in thier own way but with time and patience it can be done. I do push sometimes to see results but in the end the happy ending is worth it. I guarentee to show them a few strategies that are unique and will stick to them forever. I do require parents to cooperate when possible. thank you I am currently enrolled in Desoto High School in arcadia florida. I love math and still have time for my CNA training. I am a senior this year. I am currently in a class where i tutor ninth and tenth graders in any subject but i prefer math. Call me a math wizard if you would. I hope to become a part time math tutor someday and a certified nursing assistant and more through life.
