A Little Bit About Me...

I strong believe in a slogan "No child is left behind" in regards of the equal rights for an education. Working as a case manager and working closely with foreign speaking clients I witness the struggle children experience at school being ESL students. Unfortunately, there were no Russian speaking tutors available in elementary, middle and/or High school. Therefore, some students who moved to U.S. in teen years had to graduate HS with non-graduation certificate instead of Diploma due to the language barrier although the level of education is very high at ex-Soviet Union schools. These children just do not have enough time to improve their English to show their true ability and knowledge. My goal is to change that issue.

I am a very down to earth person especially when it comes to kids. I always try to lighten up the mood and make learning things interesting and fun. I don't like to dismiss when I see a child having trouble in something. Every person has a different way of learning, I try to cater to each of their needs.
I have tutored children in reading last summer. It was one of the most gratifying things I have done. I worked with English as second language children ranging from ages 5 to 13. We used a lesson plan and several activities to help children in achieving their reading level goals. Also, in my undergrad experience, I excelled in writing and was very good with meeting deadlines.
