I believe in teaching students at their ability level and building them up to be able to comprehend and complete grade level work. I am able to express material in a variety of teaching styles, finding the one that works best for my student(s).
I have been working with children academically since 2004 in a variety of settings: one-on-one tutoring, group tutoring, and in the classroom. My area of strength is with students who are low learners or have learning disabilities. My teaching style is based on reading then reviewing. At that point in time ask questions to see if the student has grasped the information being given. If not, answer questions then clarify. When reviewing information it is important to make sure the student knows reasoning behind subject matter so that they are understanding logic and not just memorizing information. In subjects that invloves math such as probability, chemistry, or statistics, I would do a few examples followed by letting the tutee working a few problems.
