A Little Bit About Me...

I have taught elementary school in private and public settings, in both New York City and Florida. I taught high school English and Global Studies in New York city. I have worked as a tutor in general subjects for elementary students, as well as for Reading, Language, and Biology for high school anc dollege students. I have also helped prepare adult students for the TABE, GED, and similar tests.
I prefer to teach in a hands on fashion, but the most important aspect of my style is to adjust my methods to meet the needs of the student. I incorporate study and test taking skills into most tutoring sessions and specialize in tips and tricks for areas of difficulty.

Throughout my teaching and tutoring career, I have often found that I can help my students achieve beyond what was expected of them. At the end of this process, my biggest joy is to see my student successfully working on the tasks without my assistance. I've taught in public school and private school from PreK through 12th grade and even adult learners. Elementary students have learned to read. A high school senior learned to do basic math for the first time in his life. Homeschooling my own children was another such amazing time in my growth as an educator. My experience is more hands-on and personal, I suppose. I love history and write constantly, in addition to having a great interest in photography and television. I majored in American Studies which focused on history and culture in the US, and minored in Creative Writing and Digital Arts. When I begin tutoring a new student, my first objective is for us to get to know each other. The student will not be able to receive very much from me until he/she is comfortable with me. Once they feel that I care, they open up and the learning really begins! A Little Bit About Me...

As a college athlete I always have been encouraged to help out the community. Because of my high level of math, I knew that I could really help others learn the material in a fun way. Math is something that has always been easy to me, and I have completed through calc 1,2,3 and Differential Equations. I scored in the top 96 percentile in arithmetic based math on my ADHD testing in 2006. I volunteer as a baseball coach with kids at all ages and skill levels so I am fully aware that different kids learn at different levels in different ways.
