To serve students in a tutorial setting, I first determine a student's current level of understanding. As specific gaps in understanding are identified, targeted instruction is used to fill in those gaps. Many times work on fundamental concepts or mechanics is required to achieve true and lasting success in the content area. When it comes to teaching or tutoring, I find that it is necessary to craft a pedagogical style that will match the learning style of your student. Each student learns in a different way, whether visually, aurally, kinesthetically, subconsciously, or simply by rote. I find that it is necessary to try each option with all students. I feel that the trouble that many students may have is that they operate differently from the rest of their peers and simply need a different approach to learning material.
