I enjoy working with students, especially middle school and high school, and seeing them have a "lightbulb moment". My preferred teaching method is a combination of Constructivism (hands-on, inquiry-based learning) and Behaviorism (rewards and consequences); however, I strive to internally motivate my students, and I find that making work relevant and meaningful has the greatest effect on learning. As a graduate from western Carolina University, I earned my BS in Criminal Justice in three years and am close to gaining my MS in Human Services. I have been working in the human service field as a case manager/community support worker. Although it is not thought of as a teaching job, I have had the pleasure of teaching children and adults basic skills, academic skills and assisting with homework. I finished high school with a high aptitude for Math and Science. I enjoyed AP Calculus, Ap Biology, Anatomy and Physiology, and Advanced Chemistry. After a year as an Engineering Major, I decided to switch to Music Education. I have a degree in Music Education. In Arizona I received my teaching certification in Secondary Methods and K-12 Music.
