I absolutely love performing and any aspect of theatre. I love learning and growing in my theatre knowledge and experiences. I have been performing in some way my whole world and love to share my passion with others. I also love English and Shakespeare; obviously these both go hand in hand with theatre!
I do not have a definitive teaching style. When teaching someone, I usually try to adapt to their learning style, and if they do not have a strategy that works, I help them develop a good learning style and get comfortable with it. I am currently a tutor and mentor for a fifth grade child in Delaware, Ohio via the Big Brothers Big Sisters program. I have gained a tremendous amount of experience working with this student in and out of the classroom, and it has allowed me to develop my teaching skills in all areas of curricula. I tutor my student in each and every one of her subjects. I also informally tutor some of my peers at Ohio Wesleyan University, particularly in Science classes, in which I am most experienced.
I am a very interactive teacher. I find it helpful for the students I work with if I am able to relate a lesson to something else with which they are familiar. I like to use tangible learning tools and hands on methods, allowing the student to get the most experience possible with a lesson in order to really grasp and have deep understanding of the material.

I was hired on the spot and then continued with education by obtaining a masters degree in special education in Tempe Arizona. A Little Bit About Me...

I have a Bachelor's Degree in General Studies, which simply means that I couldn't decide between the other two areas of study I was considering: Early Childhood Education and History. I home schooled my youngest brother from the time he was in the sixth grade until he finished high school, so I have fairly broad experience in regards to subjects. I have also tutored other students in History, English, and Religion (Catholic Catechism). My strengths are in English (including Phonics, Grammar, Vocabulary, and Spelling) and History. I believe a supportive environment is critical for an excellent learning experience. First, I work to set up an environment of mutual respect, a place where the student knows I respect him or her and the student respects me. To accomplish this task, I actively engage with the student by showing an interest in the student's life. Essentially, I get to know the student. I then aim to clarify the subject matter the student finds challenging. If they still find a concept confusing, I approach the topic in an alternate manner.
