I have a lot of experience not only in fields that you may need help learning, but I also spent time during college tutoring classmates as I was in the class and developed a style to help students learn quickly and also reinforce the concepts. I understand the student to determine the best learning style for you and I make the transformation teaching you the material in an effective manner.
I first find out your true objective for learning the material. Is it a requirement and not in your field of study so you just want to pass the class or is this a part of your passion or career and really want to know the nuts and bolts of the subject. I will adjust accordingly and make out a plan. I will also figure out the best way to teach you the material and from there we will have a plan to accomplish the targeted goal.

If you don't like the results, I haven't done my job.

All I do is tend to my students needs. I'm personal. Like to get off track with my students and lead them back to the point.
I won the state championship in the 100 meters and went to Adams State College in Alamosa CO. Broke a leg in track and received withdrawn F across the board. Left college and healed up. Went to the Army two years and reserve three years. Came back and picked up the quickest degree possiable. Moved to Hawwaii, three years. Became a ciritified dept of defense government contractor. Furnish and deliver contracts. Ended up moving back home to Albuquerque NM. I started working in the Indian Casinos for 13 years. I bought a house and retired. But now I'm tired of sitting around.

Find out what level the student is at, what their interest are, what the like about learning or hate about learning and go from their. As each person is different and each person learns in their own way. Learning is not hard, finding out how to learn is.
As a Merchant Marine and Chief Steward I have taught, tutored, or mentor kids of all ages and backgrounds. My passion when teaching is to try and breakdown the subject to it's most basic level. A level that the person being taught can understand. Having work with kids from different ethnic and educational backgrounds I find this to be very affective and productive. Also, not having been a great student in high school with dyslexia, I have been able to over come these short comings and graduate from collage with honors.

In order to move forward in an academic subject, let’s first see where the student is in their understanding of the subject. Perhaps the student's mind is filled with a patch-work of facts and concepts that, together, simply do not make sense. In such a case, the leap from basic memorization to higher-level thinking such as analysis and problem solving will be difficult. But rather than bore the student with things too basic, let's apply what they already know to the unknown. Like any explorer, it becomes fun & exciting to explore the subject; to use one's imagination and creativity to solve surprising problems; to build confidence and interest. Once things click, I’m happily out of a job!

I am a recent graduate of California State University San Bernardino. I have a BA in Business Administration with a concentration in Finance. In my previous jobs I have been quickly promoted to a trainer because of my desire to teach. I am enrolled in a credential program through CSUF. In this program I am learning how to be an effective teacher. After twenty years in the financial area I went back to school to obtain a special education credential and found a passion for teaching. While in school I worked as a teacher's aide at Seaside High School, and taught 5th grade summer school for two years. After completing my education course work I received a contract with Monterey Peninsula Unified School District and taught at Los Arboles Middle School. My middle school students had varying disabilities. The focus in my classroom was to determine what each student needed to succeed.
It is important for me to determine what motivates each student to learn, what their interests are and what is important to them. I wanted the student to see how each lesson was valuable to their future success. I always got my students involved in the classroom with open discussions. Each week my students gave a five minute presentation on a ... read more

Working with children is my passion ,and ensuring their success is my goal.I consider my teaching style to be a demonstrator in which I put an emphasis on demonstration and modeling. Where I guide the student to develop and apply the skills that were demonstrated. I feel that encouraging student participation while adapting their unique learning style will help the student take responsibility for learning what they need help on. A student should be pushed to excel but it is also about teaching the student discipline, and respecting others. Lastly, tutoring is about having fun, creating a exciting experience to the student and creating a memorable teaching environment that ensure success for the student.

All students can learn, but in different ways. I, for one, learn best by watching how something is done. I can read about it, or hear a lecture about it, but seeing it helps me understand the subject. This type of teaching would be done with movies, drawing or acting out the situation. In my teaching, I try to use all methods available to me to help the students learn and to use their creativity. I especially try to get students to work in groups and to share their work with each other. I find that pier groups provide the best help in understanding the subject matter. The classroom should be a learning place of activities and fun.

As one of the few women to be admitted to a well known university in China, based upon my academic abilities, I was chosen to teach University students in the foreign language department for one and one half years. In the past twelve years I have worked in the International Banking arena for foreign and domestic banking institutions. During this time I advanced through the banking ranks to supervisor positions dealing with the various banking laws of each country wherein international transactions were processed on a daily basis.
