A Little Bit About Me...

My teaching style is flexible. Students learn in different ways and at different paces. It is my job to discover how the students learn and what they respond best to. For some subjects, repetition is very important and for others a clearer understanding of the concepts involved is more valuable. I like to start with small skills and build on them.
I have taught two years of middle school and home schooled my daughter. I have worked as a substitute teacher on and off for several years. My emphasis in college was English and Math so I feel very comfortable teaching either of these subjects as well as reading.

With my collegiate experience, I have taught as a ESL assistant at school; helped special needs college students through reading and producing Books-on-Tape; and served as an ESL tutor for Inlingua. Indeed I have developed and perfected my communication and writing skills from writing research papers, laboratory reports, essays and public presentations of my work.
Teaching is my passion and I highly enjoying working and educating others. I believe that teaching should be implemented with enthusiasm, love, passion and innovation. A child should be given the best learning environment that will facilitate exploration, independence and growth. Thus the child will develop a natural desire and motivation to learn with and without the presence of a teacher. My teaching style is that of a facilitator and demonstrator.

A Little Bit About Me...

What I have learned working with students is that many do not learn in the same manner. I beleive in what is called top process learning. Given the student a concept and allowing them to explore the possibilities of how one arrives at such a concept has allowed deeper critical thinking and strategic planning. However, this method is not predominately taught in Georgia education system. I have found this method to be very effective. The other method is patience. Students who strugge with their academic learning usually are having other areas of difficulty which may be social learning. Having clinical training allows me to make a more accurate assessment.
During the last 10 years I have worked with all levels of students, preschool through college levels. These areas include reading, math, english, psychology, science and social studies. I am a self starter and have worked wi ... read more

More About This Tutor...

All throughout my school years, I was a highly motivated student. I was in the accelerated programs from first grade to my senior year in high school. During high school I was not only in the accelerated english program, I also took many Advanced Placement classes and was on the accelerated math track. I was even able to finish my bachelor degree in International Affairs in three years. During my senior year in high school, I tutored my student in all of his subjects (math, social studies, science, and english). When in college, I led study groups in college and tutored a few of my fellow classmates, mainly in history and english.
I have always had an avid love of learning. I attempt to make my students love it too. I try to incorporate things the students like into the lessons (for example, I used football scoring to explain mathematic concepts to a 10 year old boy). I also am a f ... read more

Over the past three years, I have had the wonderful opportunity to tutor a wide variety of students on a part-time basis. I enjoy the challenge of transmitting information in a way that is both accessible and edifying. This experience, combined with a world-class education from Mercer University, enables me to engage students on a level not typically found with other tutors.
My teaching style reflects the environment of a college classroom. Lessons are centered around unrestricted discussion of topic and formal lecturing. The most central part of my style , however, is guiding the student to realize the answer for themselves. Not only is this method more conducive to learning, it is an indispensable tool for boosting confidence.

A Little Bit About Me...

I have recently recieved a BS in Biology from Fort Valley State University in May 2010. I am a graduate of an accelerated program called the Cooperative Developmental Energy Program, which is a program that focuses only on the math and science fields and also required me to earn my BS in 3 years while maintaining a GPA of 3.0 or above. In addition, I have worked as a childcare provider during the summers at a daycare center where I was required to help create and carry out lesson plans to ensure that the children did not lose what they had learned during the school year.
I believe that in order the hlp children learn, patience is required. I am willing to take my time and make sure that of the concepts are truly learned and not just memorized. During my years in college I have learned that if something is just memorized it will not stick with you, but if you really learn and unders ... read more

I have a plethoria of experience working with children in a variety of ages. After graduating from Michigan State University I have subbed for all ages, tutored students, worked at a Sylvan Learning Center and taught a Art Goes To School program. I have been homeschooling my own three children for the past seven years. This has been a wonderful experience to instill the love of learning into children. We are moving to the Warner Robins area at the end of July. My current employer at the YMCA is abled to be reached for a reference. This current position is not tutoring; however, it does show my capability of working with various ages.
I consider myself more of an ecletic teacher who uses several different teaching strategies. My goal is for the student to understand their lesson and each student learns differently. A good teacher is aware of their students' learning abiliti ... read more

I strongly believe that the student’s success lies in the hands of the teacher. Every child or student deserves special attention depending on his/her intellectual ability. So, it is imperative that every teaching curriculum fits the special need of the student. Teaching should not be based on memorization, but rather on understanding and instilling a sense of curiosity to learn.
I currently work as a financial analyst utilizing many quantitative skills such as statistics, forecasting and data analysis. I am working towards a CMA (Certified Management Accountant) certification, which eventually will help me progress into a managerial position.
