A Little Bit About Me...

What I have learned working with students is that many do not learn in the same manner. I beleive in what is called top process learning. Given the student a concept and allowing them to explore the possibilities of how one arrives at such a concept has allowed deeper critical thinking and strategic planning. However, this method is not predominately taught in Georgia education system. I have found this method to be very effective. The other method is patience. Students who strugge with their academic learning usually are having other areas of difficulty which may be social learning. Having clinical training allows me to make a more accurate assessment.

I strongly believe that the student’s success lies in the hands of the teacher. Every child or student deserves special attention depending on his/her intellectual ability. So, it is imperative that every teaching curriculum fits the special need of the student. I have been driven to excel in college and in my career in logistics. I've graduated from two of the top universities in the US, and retired from the USAF as a Major. I'm also a graduate of Air War College. I've traveled the world as an instructor navigator and defense contractor, learning about many cultures and religions. In addition to Spanish, I also speak Turkish. I also owned my own logistics services business, winning a contract with the USAF.
My technique in teaching navigation was to expose the student to the underlying physics of dead reaconing and celestial object movement. Then we would put the theory into practice in the air. I strove to always give positive feedback and encouragement.

I enjoy teaching children of all ages. Learning can be fun as long as you can relate it to something that the child is interested in.
