I've worked as a Learning Specialist for 6 years. I started at Mercy Learning in Mandeville and now have a private practice. I trained and began contracting to the Mercy Learning Center, Mandeville Campus as a Learning Specialist for nearly three years. While on staff at MLC I gained valuable insight working with children of differing diagnoses and levels of need, their parents, and clinical care providers. As a math tutor,my main goal is to help students regain their confidence in their abilities to be successful in their math class or in achieving the desired test scores. I have been successful in the past in doing so by first identifying my students'individual weaknesses and strengths. Then I meet their needs by helping them clarify their math specific questions, and practicing the content until they master it! A Little Bit About Me...

Because I am a very patient and detail oriented person, I feel it is best to adapt my teaching style to the student's learning style. I would first make that evaluation to determine how best to approach teaching the student. I enjoy using hands-on examples and Powerpoint presentations in teaching. I feel that one-on-one interaction will always help a child gain knowledge of a subject.
I have a BS in Environmental Science with a Chemistry minor. I also have a MS in Environmental/Soil Science. As a NASA scholar and Research Assistant, I taught undergraduate students Soil Science Lab Classes. I have tutored Elementary level reading and writing as a volunteer. I have also tutored Middle School level Math to several students. I am a substitute teacher in Louisiana and I am currently working on my teacher certification.
