Social Studies and Creative Writing (English)

I am currently a Sociology student at Augsburg College. I am also pursuing a minor in Psychology. This year will be my last, so I will graduate in 2014. Also, I have taken several creative writing courses at the Loft Literary center, as well as at my College. I received a 4.0 in my courses. Also, in high school, I was always a level above in all English and composition classes.
I like to challenge people to think outside of the box. My comments on tutoring Poetry : I have already written hundreds of poem/ prose so I know how to incorporate the elements of poetry. Would have to talk to the individual to see what they wanted me to teach however to be able to tell if I would be the right teacher for the individual.

I focus on concepts and foundations compared to facts/dates/lines of moves.
Chess- played 10 years, u1700 chess champion, tied for first for three years for top high school female player at State. Taught classes to groups (k-5) for 3 years as well as individuals for many. My comments on tutoring Poetry : I have experience in writing poetry, namely slam. I also have studied poetry in classes and on my own.

I work hands-on, using examples. However, I am readily able to adjust to new learning styles!
I have taken creative writing and journalism courses. I have experience in the journalism field, and won an award for one of my stories. I have also done much writing on my own, including writing a full-length novel (in the works of being edited with hopes of publication). I am an avid reader and my reading comprehension/writing scores on tests have always been well above average.

While working on my Bachelors, I volunteered in eight schools working one on one with students, small groups, and classroom settings for language arts. I also student taught junior high language arts. I received numerous teacher of the week recognition when I taught after school art classes. Since graduation, I have been a substitute for all grade levels and subject matter.
