My teaching style is fun yet innovative. I incorporate all types of teaching styles to meet the needs of learners. I love to learn and demonstrate that through my teaching style. My students have fun in my classroom. I aim to entertain in an effort to make students feel comfortable and have fun themselves. I have served as the 6th grade lead teacher at Rolling Acres Edison. I teach full inclusion science and social studies by integrating math and reading skills. I am responsible for leading daily team meetings concerning student data. Together we use monthly online diagnostic testing to ensure student success on state mandated tests. As a team leader, I meet bi-weekly with our school's leadership team. Because all students learn differently, it is important for me as a teacher to get to know each student to find out what fits their needs the best. I like to offer a variety of activities that appeal to the hands-on learns, as well as kids that need visual cues. I am a patient, encouraging and energetic teacher. It's my joy to find the instruction that really clicks with each student, and celebrate with them over their successes. I have taught 3rd, 4th and 5th grades. I also have experience in 7th and 8th grade. My strengths are teaching math strategies such as facts, multi-step problems and algebra. I have a passion for reading and writing instruction. I am highly qualified to teach reading fluency, phonics/ word attack, comprehension and vocabulary. I have a variety of high interest activities to help students build their confidence in both reading and writing.

My teaching philosophy is to provide a safe and welcoming learning environment for my students, in which they feel equal and confident as learners. Creating a positive learning environment begins with building a strong rapport with students and coworkers. Another aspect of building a strong classroom community is motivation. As a teacher, my goal is to help student build strong self-efficacy so that they feel inclined to work hard and develop an inner sense of motivation. I use scaffolding in my instruction, so the students are able to watch me demonstrate the skill or strategy, and slowly I turn over more and more responsibilities to the student regarding that skill until he or she is able to do the skill without my assistance.
