I am comfortable tutoring lower level math classes, mechanical design, or other engineering classes. Writing classes such as English, literature, or fine arts are fine as well. I have a BS in Mechanical and Aerospace engineering from MIZZOU. I am very proficient in technical editing, critiquing papers and writing technical papers.
Hands on, Practice based, through step by step instruction. Visual learning whenever applicable. Geometry, algebra, physics, and some calculus are in my range of teaching. I have been working with preschool to high school age students since 2004. I have always had tutoring positions, whether it was for my peers in college, volunteering for the Salvation Army, or running after school programs after graduating. I am a PA certified tutor, with conflict resolution, mentor, and CERT training (Community Emergency Rescue Team). It is important to me to have a profession where I feel that I am helping other people to progress in their lives. I genuinely care about the well being of each person I come into contact to and want to help in any way I can to make life easier, and more fulfilling for all of us.
I have experience teaching many types of students. I worked one-on-one, daily, with an autistic student during my last position, so I understand that not every student learns in the same way. I think it works well to give shorter lessons to a small group, an ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

I love working with children. I believe that children tend to learn best through repetition and making the experience fun. I like to work with flashcards and other such methods. If you take the time with a child they will eventually pick up on what you are trying to teach them. However, there are methods such as acronyms that can be used as well.

I love working with children of all ages and abilities and helping them with academics. I don't believe I have a specific teaching style. I know that I have to be flexible and creative with each student. Everyone learns differently, and I feel it is my obligation to find what works for each child. I do belive in providing hands on and real life scenarios when teaching.
I have been very successful in academics throughout my education. I was valedictorian of my high school, and I received the top honors in English, French, and Accounting. I also maintained a 4.0 average throughout my college education.

A Little Bit About Me...

As a Penn State graduate, I was motivated to achieve a high level of excellence in my teaching career. I was chosen as one of the 56 Penn State Elementary Education majors to participate in the Professional Development School (PDS), a year long, full-time student teaching internship in collaboration with the State College Area School District. I have worked as a camp counselor and maintained part-time jobs during college.

A Little Bit About Me...

I my experience in learning and teaching anatomy, which revolves around learning concepts as well as brute memorization, each student, has learned in his or her own unique way. Because of this I feel it is hard to describe my "teaching style." One aspect of teaching that I feel I am very successful in understands each students learning style and being able to adapt to it. I consider myself a very patient and understanding person and never feel that I place "pressure" on students. I personally believe that a person learns better if they are in a comfortable situation.
I began my teaching experience at Ohio University where I was offered a position as an anatomy TA due to my success in the course. During this time I was required to make sure that 30+ students had a clear understanding of both lecture material and the lab material which included complete cat dissection. After I r ... read more

I have been selected as a peer tutor through Carlow University for Biology, Chemistry and Mathematics.
I prefer to begin by having the student describe the current subject matter to the best of his/her abilities to determine a starting point. I have found that having the student talk through the subject matter can be useful in determining his/her strengths and level of understanding. I like to have the student work through some problems they have not been assigned from their book/notes so that they are able to practice and work through some other problems before attempting any assignments. I have also found that it is useful to go over any previous quizzes or tests related to the current subject matter as difficulties are sometimes related to previous work because with these subjects the work tends to build upon itself.
