A Little Bit About Me...

I attended Middle Tennessee State University from spring 1993-fall 1997, graduating in Dec. 1997 (B.S. degree). My major is art educ., my minor is secondary educ. My teaching license was in art educ./K-12. I was a member of The Gamma Beta Phi Society, the top 15% of my class. My gpa was 3.2 and I won two scholarships. I did my student teaching at the Lebanon High and at the Las Cassas Elementary Schools in fall 1997. I taught art at Mt. Juliet Elementary School, and taught private adult & children’s art classes at An Invitation to the Dance studio in Murfreesboro and at the Murfreesboro Art League. I have tutored several students (math, guitar, riding, reading, art, etc.)and worked mostly in the graphic and fine arts for my living.

I enjoy working with children of all ages. I feel that no two students are alike and it takes a compassionate and focused instructor to figure out the best way that a student will effectively learn. I am a very patient, kind, yet firm teacher, and I believe that gentle constructive criticism is the best way for any student to learn, regardless of their age. It is my personal goal that I am able to give my students the best instruction that is specifically geared towards their strengths. As a student, I was lucky to have caring teachers.
