I have 17 years in the classroom and 5 years of education to attain this. I still make myself available to help any student who needs it even though I have left the classroom. I have also substituted for 3 years at all grade levels. I have had to write many papers during my educational experience. My students had to write essays as part of their testing and do extensive research to write papers to enhance their experience in the classroom. All students learn at different levels. I like to incorporate all the learning styles of students. Some learn by hands-on, others by listening, and some by writing. These are all used by me. Each student has their own learning style and a teacher has to help each find what works for each student and then incorporate this to meet the needs for that particular student. My teaching style is flexible. Students learn in different ways and at different paces. It is my job to discover how the students learn and what they respond best to. For some subjects, repetition is very important and for others a clearer understanding of the concepts involved is more valuable. I like to start with small skills and build on them. I have taught two years of middle school and home schooled my daughter. I have worked as a substitute teacher on and off for several years. My emphasis in college was English and Math so I feel very comfortable teaching either of these subjects as well as reading.

My passion is to teach and work with children. Although I believe that all students are capable of learning, I am certain that students learn in different ways. As a good educator, I am charged with the challenge of presenting the lesson so that it suits the students individual learning style. I accomplish this by providing a constructive approach to learning. As a graduate of Columbus State University, I have been driven to achieve a high level of excellence in education. I have earned a teacher's certification in Special Education. The certification, along with the experience gained, has enabled me to gain an understanding of the disabled and at-risk student.
