My college experience in the subjects of Economics, Government, Language, Math, Science, and Social Studies was rigorous. After finishing undergraduate courses, I worked for a program that sent college students out to public schools to be Teacher's Aids. We were expected to help any students who were falling behind in a subject. The experience was so rewarding that after graduation, I took a position working with troubled students convicted of sexual assault, teaching them math and science for six months. That time was more challenging since students had wide-ranging ages and special needs. I learned how to work with I.E.Ps. Later, I worked as a tutor/teacher at a middle school in L.A. Each student learns in their own way and sometimes that way is not in a classroom setting. A teacher to me is someone who has developed a way to make each student understand the subject matter. This is where I feel I differentiated myself from my classmates and colleagues. I have been successful with my students because I take the time to get to know a student’s strengths, weaknesses and interests.
