My teaching style is show the child what they have to do and then have them do it with my help and then have them do it without my help. I have been working with children both in the classroom and out to excel their knowledge of mathematics. I have been a tutor, a teacher aide, and have student taught at the high school and elementary level. I have both experience in one on one tutoring as well as group (5+). Group tutoring is always been something that I like due to the other children helping each other out. Student to student teaching is something that I believe highly in and have learned a lot about this with a program called AVID tutors.

I have had much success helping students through pre-algebra. With the fundamentals to algebra and the beginning concepts in geometry being introduced, students can struggle if their math foundation is not strong. It is important to address any difficulties before discouragement sets in. Specific weaknesses are sometimes masked, especially if scores are inconsistent; or if the student doesn't "test well"; or if the student generally struggles with organizational or basic arithmetic skills. When working with a student, I can quickly assess and readily address underlying weaknesses, by looking past whether any one problem is right or wrong, to analyzing how they are thinking about the question, what are their math habits, how is their math vocabulary, and so on. If SAT/ACT tutoring is needed, I request you buy the official CollegeBoard SAT book or the official ACT book. If help is needed in an AP class, a textbook or the Princeton Review book of that subject is needed.
