I am a very descriptive and thorough teacher. I enjoy explaining subjects first, then writing examples on the board to encourage note-taking. Then I like students to think of their own examples. I like to ensure that I am very clear in delivering my point, because I know how some students will remain quiet, even if they do not understand completely. If a student struggles to comprehend, and then I move on to the next topic too quickly, it is easy for that student to fall behind. I would say that all people are capable of learning and improving their abilities, knowledge, and skill. My experience has been that if a child, youth, or adult is given the space in which to learn, and introduced to material in a patient manner, in the style that works for them (be that through explanation or visual learning, etc) they will take the initiative to learn and grow at the pace and direction which works for them.
