My focus has been to take the material and translate it from the often-impenetrable form found in textbooks to a more accessible, practical presentation. I prefer to characterize mathematics as a language skill where, as in most language classes, exposure to a idea should be followed by enough repeated practice to develop a confidence in its implementation. This is a method used successfully in many other countries whose students consistently outperform U.S. students.
