My comments on tutoring Anatomy : Received an A in college level Anatomy and physiology course.

I believe that stimulating conversation and allowing people to arrive at answers on their own and through experience is the best way to form lasting connections.
I took a variety of Biology classes and Labs at WPI mostly focused on Cell Biology and Molecular Genetics. I recently finished my PH.D. where I studied control of viral gene expression. This work encompassed a variety of biological disciplines including virology, cell biology, molecular biology, biochemistry, and molecular genetics, all of which I am quite experienced in. I also have experience teaching in a seminar format as well as in small groups. As a senior graduate student I was responsible for leading discussions prior to invited speaker seminars.

Believe in yourself, and you are half-way there!

My teaching style depends on the student. I am comfortable with trying different study methods in order to figure out why my student is having trouble with a particular subject.
I have a Bachelor of Science in Biology and a minor in Chemistry. I love being able to help students feel comfortable with the material they are studying. I graduated Rutgers University majoring in Biology and German, and minoring in Chemistry. I have a strong science background, which I will continue to expand by completing a PhD at Yale starting in the Fall. I have experience tutoring students in math during the last 2 years of high school, and 1 year of calculus tutoring in college. In addition, I tutor my 13 year-old sister in all the subjects of her curriculum.
My approach is to determine the student's weaknesses, and then formulate analogies to explain the difficult concepts. After graduating from college with a BA, I began working for an environmental restoration and public education program. We led large volunteer groups sometime of more than 100 people, in local park and forest restoration event, and also led youth groups on 10 day restoration and hiking trips in the national forest. After this I worked for a program that places tutors in schools that are in need, where i tutored K-5 students in reading, led a ESL class of about 10 students, and worked as a teachers assistant in the class room. A Little Bit About Me...

It wasn't until I completed my B.S. degree and had a child of my own to fully understand the importance of an education. My son was diagnosed with Autism, this diagnosis woke in me a new desire to learn. I went on to complete my Masters Degree while working on my son's social, language and educational development.
