My comments on tutoring Geography : I have good knowledge about where places are.

I have for many years helped friends and family when they have needed help with history papers, literature and writing homework, etc. I would love to assist others to achieve success in school as well. I believe that it is unrealistic to expect students to learn at the same rate and have identical learning styles, so teachers must differentiate their instruction to account for all types of learning abilities, levels, interests, and talents. I first question the students in what they already know to see the areas that need less instruction. Then I ask them problems from their school texts and see how they do. This will give me some knowledge of where the student is failing and the area that needs more support. I then ask them at the session's end if they learned something and how that makes them feel. This is most important because if the student does not feel that they are learning and what the knowledge can be used for, they will loose interest and not pay attention in class. This is why many fail technical courses because unlike other subjects, math and science builds upon itself so if you do not learn the basics first, the next topics will be harder to grasp.

I have my BS in Elementary Education with minors in Science and Social Studies. I completed my student teaching requirements in inner city Milwaukee. I then was hired right out of college to teach 5th grade in Arizona which I did for two years. I then transferred to third grade and began my masters program in reading.
