A Little Bit About Me...

I have two younger brothers, ages 14 and 15, who I feel have made me that great tutor that I am today. Along with the assistance and support of my mother, we have pushed them to learn at a young age, and more often that not I grew up assisting them from their multiplication tables to beginner calculus. I feel that with constructive support and encouraging educators ANY student can flourish. I am very patient, try to convey concepts in simple step by step fashion, almost how I process it in my mind. Due I hold a BS in Industrial Engineering and my attendance to the Mathematics Program for 2 years, my mathematical skills are strong in all levels (high school, calculus, trigonometry, etc.) My experience is mainly based in Engineering where all math concepts are applied, so I have a very clear view on how mathematics and physics are utilized in the "real world". A Little Bit About Me...

Almost all my extensive and diverse experience has been in engineering management in both the public and private sectors. While attending Rutgers University, tutored minority students in both math and English in Newark College of Engineering. Subsequently after graduation taught one semester at the Interamerican University of Puerto Rico one undergraduate course (Introduction to Statistics) and one graduate course (Advanced Cost Accounting).
It would be to my great satisfaction to pass all this accumulated knowledge to the new generations. Teaching (tutoring) strategies will vary with each individual case but in all cases the student must be kept motivated and interested by providing real life situations that relate to the subject being studied while, at the same time, maintaining a pace that is neither low nor overwhelming.

I have a good understanding in math and its applications. I do not have formal tutoring experience as an adult, but have taken a break from my career in business to stay home and take care of my children, currently 5 and 7 years old. I have helped my daughter with most of her math concepts and homework and she is one of the best in her class, and I have helped both with their English and Spanish vocabulary and pronunciation. I would say I spend about 2 hours daily (during school days) teaching them and making sure they understand the concepts taught in school. In high school, I was also a member of Mu Alpha Theta (Math honor society), and volunteered as a math mentor after school for 1 year.
