Although the core principals that I tutor with remain the same, I always prefer to get to know the individual I am helping. Without that basis and relationship to work off of, to become their friend, it is considerably more challenging to assist the learner. Beyond that, I make it my goal to do everything I can to visualize their situation and work with them to create an approach that is comfortable and effective for us both. With patience, empathy and a listening ear, I work with the learner to make the sessions both beneficial and enjoyable. It is my responsibility to help the learner discover that they are truly capable and gifted and also help that capability and those gifts to emerge.
