Taking a standardized test requires a special set of skills in itself, so it is no surprise that many individuals (myself included) have spend countless hours dissecting and conquering them. Allow me to share with you some of the tips and tricks I learned as an MCAT tutor. My philosophy of teaching is to train the student to think like a scientist and/or mathematician. It is not just about getting the right answer but rather understanding the fundamental principals of a subject. This enables the student to try previously unseen problems and succeed. I also believe in varying the techniques used. If a student has trouble with their teacher or text books approach, a different method should be explored. Imparting true understanding is a satisfying experience that I always aim for. I am a graduate student transitioning from physics to astrophysics, my goal being a PhD in Astrophysics.
