I try to use various activities and techniques when teaching to keep students interested. This also helps them (and me) to determine the way(s) that they learn best. My teaching style is very interactive. I like to hear what the student has to say, and to tune in to the best way to approach each student. I know that each of us learns in our own unique way, and that the best results are gained by honoring those differences. One of my proudest accomplishments was the success of one particular student, who, at the age of 40, was back in school, having finally been diagnosed with learning disabilities after being passed through the public school system. My strongest suit in my teaching style is probably the many ways that I would approach teaching a certain principle. If the student does not understand one way to approach a problem, I try to best to help them understand and learn another way. I feel like since everyone learns differently, a tutor should approach a problem from as many angles as possible. My teaching style is also very patient. I suppose the saying "give a man a fish, feed him for a day, teach a man how to fish, feed him for a lifetime" would apply to my style.
