My comments on tutoring Biology : I took Bio 101 & 102 in college, which is general biology. I received high A's in the class both semester.

What I try to do first is get the student to work out the problem, and as they are doing that I will work the problem as well. We will go over our answers together so I have a chance to explain the problem to the student. I believe that repitition and practice makes perfect as long as you have someone to explain it along the way. I will thoroughly explain the problem to the student if they don't understand it. By the end I would hope that the student could then explain how to do the problem to me.
I am now a sophomore at Germanna Community College. I have taken Algebra, Biology, English, Contemporary Mathematics, and various psychology courses. I earned my BS in Chemistry with a GPA 3.57. I then took the GRE and ACS entrance exams for graduate school, I passed all four division with 20-60 percentile of the national avg. During my undergraduate education I was a tutor and earned level one training certification. In graduate school I instructed lab courses and tutored in a learning center several days a week. A Little Bit About Me...

When I teach reading, I convey my love of reading. When I teach math, I convey the logical beauty of math. When I teach other subjects, I stress the importance of the material and how it is relevant to everyday life. In Sunday school this week, we combined with another class, so there were people there who aren’t usually. Several of them thanked me and let me know how much they got out of it. My response is that I am a teacher. It’s who I am and what I do.
I was a corporate trainer for 3 years, followed by 12 years serving as a software instructor. Prior to and throughout this time, I also taught Sunday school and Vacation Bible school, teaching everyone from 2 year olds to adults. I spent one summer as a reading tutor, and many of my software classes have been 1-on-1 tutoring sessions. I have volunteered as an SOL coach and in Head Start classrooms.
