Retired Elementary Teacher With 35 Years of Experience!

My name is Jean and I am a retired elementary school teacher with 35 years of experience teaching all subjects in grades K-5. I was voted Teacher of the Year by my peers in 2013. I was a Writing for Success Mentor in my district and led in-services. I tutor because I love to help students reach their academic goals and gain more confidence in doing so. I feel it is essential to establish a mutual bond of respect and trust between teacher and student. A Little Bit About Me...

I believe that education is essential. Still, I recognize that my education has never been the consequence of my own determination alone. My family, professors, and friends have played an essential role in my education, having an incredible impact on what I learn and how I learn it. My teachers have always been incredibly effective because they are enthusiastic and willing to take the extra steps to ensure that I too love the material or at least have respect for it, creating within me a desire to learn and know more. My teaching style is a reflection of this. I am very passionate about the subjects I teach. Though many times I find the students are not as passionate as myself, after concerted efforts, the students at least become enthralled by the level of enthusiasm I show, and begin to ask questions and participate in their own learning.
