I am currently enrolled as a student at the University of Maryland, College Park, in my junior year studying mechanical engineering. Prior to my studies at UMD, I took several classes at Frederick Community College, while in high school. While on my way to this level, I have taken many interesting classes and seen both effective and ineffective methods of communicating the critical content of these subjects. I am very familiar with both high school and college level math and science, and still use many of those principles in my current studies. My preference in teaching is to first teach the student the practical side of things. Can the student perform the basic calculations for example so as to pass the exam. Once the student has developed a "gut level understanding", then I can move onto the more theoretical understanding of the topic, depending of course on where the student is at.
