If you don't like the results, I haven't done my job.

I won the state championship in the 100 meters and went to Adams State College in Alamosa CO. Broke a leg in track and received withdrawn F across the board. Left college and healed up. Went to the Army two years and reserve three years. Came back and picked up the quickest degree possiable. Moved to Hawwaii, three years. Became a ciritified dept of defense government contractor. Furnish and deliver contracts. Ended up moving back home to Albuquerque NM. I started working in the Indian Casinos for 13 years. I bought a house and retired. But now I'm tired of sitting around.
All I do is tend to my students needs. I'm personal. Like to get off track with my students and lead them back to the point.

My comments on tutoring Geography : One of my two minors was human geography. I completed courses in physical geography and oceanography as well.

Graduated with honors in 2010 from SDSU with a BA in Linguistics and an TESL certificate. I double-minored in History and Geography. Worked at American Language Institute (ALI) before and after graduation as a facilitator (assistant instructor). Graduated from Mesa Community College in 2007 with an associates degree in Social Science.
I take a systematic "nuts and bolts" approach that gives the student the basic building blocks so that they may become a partner in the integrative learning process that involves figuring out how to properly structure, connect & apply these integrations to form new building blocks, and so on to wider & wider integrations & applications.

Humanities teacher/tutor

My expertise is in humanities. I combine original writings from ancient (Plato, Aristotle, Sophocles, etc.) and more modern (Shakespeare, Dostoyevsky, Tolstoy, etc.) authors who have shaped our world. By utilizing the Socratic method, I promote critical thinking and engage the student in discussion. My ultimate goal is to help the student not only learn and master the subject, but also to inspire a love of learning and further desire to explore.
As a substitute teacher for social studies and English literature, in both honors and regular classes, I facilitated learning by following the lesson plans. Utilizing student-centered learning techniques, like asking questions and encouraging discussions, I helped create an atmosphere where learning became interesting and happened naturally. By promoting and stimulating guided discussions and critical thinking, I was able to inspire i ... read more

I believe every student deserves to learn and succeed. I love teaching and working with all children. I believe all children can learn, but each in different ways. In recognizing that each student is an individual with innate talents and their own learning style, a teacher needs to customize teaching techniques to accommodate for that. I am patient and considerate, and passionate about education. On an individual basis I aim to foster positive relationships with my students. I am committed to instill in each student the desire to learn and accept challenges so that they will be prepared for a future beyond school walls.

My teaching style would be classified as patient. I was diagnosed with a learning disability myself when I was in third grade, so I know how differently children learn. I was lucky enough to have patient resource teachers to work with and allow me to find my way of learning the material led by them, of course. So I think tutoring is extremely important for success of our children. I even received tutoring all the way up through high school and was grateful to my private tutor for, again, helping me to learn the material in a way that made sense to me and I strive to do the same for the children I teach.
During my years as a student, it was something I excelled at. I did not have to typically study for hours to achieve success in retaining material. I tend to remember things easily and be good with educating others on subject matter. I have been a substitute teacher and have mentore ... read more

I feel I learn as much as I teach. I value every student that I have the opportunity to work with. I have learned some students just need to overcoming their dislike of a subject. For others, a key subject building block had been built properly (as in Math) and as a result the rest of the information was sitting unstable in their minds. Finding where the support is needed and then working to solidify the skill then leads to greater confidence and greater academic achievement, Most students I work with appreciate that I am fair but firm. I want to succeed. It is a win-win.
I have recently completed my MBA at national University. I currently teach high school part time at a alternative high school. This recent experience provided me with opportunity to work with students in a one-on-one basis as well as familiarize myself with every core class offered in the high school program. I tutored English and Humanities in the Academic Skills Center of my alma mater, Heritage University. I was a Teacher's Assistant at this university for two semesters and often took over for the class in place of the professor. I tutored primarily college students. My specialization was in Technical and Report Writing. I also currently tutor two minor students in a homeschool setting. One is ten years old and has significant reading delays, but has been gaining reading speed and comprehension with me. The other is 18 years old; I am helping her graduate from high school, so I plan all curriculum and tutor her in all subjects.
I am very student-centered. I believe that all students can learn any subject if the teaching style is adapted to the student's learning needs and prior experience. I further believe that learning should be fun for the student and to this end I constantly seek ... read more
