I have taught 14 years teaching in public school system, mostly elementary school. I have taught 5 years in preschool or Montessori preschool. I have been tutoring since I was 13 years old. Parents of my peers always approached me to teach their son or daughter. After I completed high school with a 4.0 GPA I was hired at a professional tutoring school. There I worked for nearly 10 years with a loyal student base many of whom I taught the entire time. I taught kids from when they were in elementary school all the way until high school. Some students were ineligible to go to normal school so I was their only teacher for years. Besides my formal education, I have helped many people while working for Disabled Student Services at Florida Community College at Jacksonville. I helped my blind boss understand the needs of her deaf students. I helped a disabled boy with Algebra and I helped my mom with her math when she went back to college. Coming from the influence of a family of educators, I realized early on my affinity towards teaching. In addition to my college degrees, I have been very involved in the 'summer camp' experience. Over six summers, I worked with two summer camps to teach various physical and academic curricula to grade groups K-5, 6-8, 9-12. I learned through visual aid. So, I guess I would lean towards this style of teaching. However, if a student learns better with audio aid then I would be willing to combine the two methods to better educate the student. My goal is to provide the best education possible and to suceed in that is to have great communication and alittle fun doing the work that is expected. I have not taught anyone or tutored anyone for money. However, I would like to have the oppitunity to be able to tutor children or young adults on their way of the journey of life. I too was tutored going through school and not just once. I attended Sylvin Learning Center every other year since sixth grade.
