Having attended higher learning institutions for over 6 years, my drive for more education is apparent. Throughout my experiences, not only have I been tutored, but have tutored my peers in mostly math and sciences. Attending a private liberal arts college taught me to push myself to be the very best I could be. I earned a Bachelor of Arts in Classics with an emphasis on Greek, and a minor in English. I tutored for a January term Beginning Greek class, as well as whenever students stopped in the office and needed help with Greek or Latin. A Little Bit About Me...

Teaching comes easily to me especially with high school and college age students. I highly enjoy accelerated history, critical thinking and exploring the odd details of history. I tend to be a stern teacher with high expectations for students. This being said, I try my hardest to help students comprehend and understand the material being learned. My teaching style is, for the most part, non-directive. I think it is important to try to have students answer their own questions. When this does not work, I do not just tell the student what goes where or why this doesn't work, I give reasons and have them tell me these same reasons the next time we come across something that doesn't work.
At SCSU, I work as a writing consultant at the Writing Center on campus. With students, I help to make them better writers by helping answer questions, presenting questions, working through the brainstorming and paper-writing process, and helping with formatting. I have been a piano teacher for 29 years, teaching privately in my home studio. I am insatiable in my pursuit of knowledge, and have wide interests. My first degree in history and philosophy influenced me in how I approached all other fields of study. I am never satisfied with a superficial knowledge of anything I undertake.
