Test preparation is my passion. I have a great prep book I like to use. I excel at identifying each students strengths, weaknesses, and learning styles. I can quickly adapt or create lessons as needed. Most of my students look forward to our time together, as we have fun, but get our work done. I homeschooled my three daughters for 10 years, right through high school. All three have gone on to Colllege and have excelled, making the Dean's list. In the work world, two have been highly praised for their writing skills. After homeschooling, I began tutoring. I have over 5 years experience and have tutored elementary, middle school, high school, and college students, as well as adults preparing for exams such as the GED. I have earned a BS in Physical Education. My major was Athletic Training, which has prepared me to gain extensive knowledge in Biology and Anatomy & Phys. I also have prior tutoring experience helping with students at my church and family members who were younger than me. I have helped tutor students with all major subjects. I am a patient, understanding, and considerate person. I love the sight of a child learning something after a person takes the time to show the steps. At the moment, I am unemployed throughout the week so i can meet with a child/children whenever they need me. I also can help a child through their personal problems because it is not always that a child does not understand the information; sometimes they have other things affecting their lives. I want to be able to make a difference in a child life forever.

I have been a substitute teacher at the elementary, middle and high school levels. I have experience working with learning disabled children. I have taught math and english concepts to adults through intensive six week courses facilited through the US ARMY. I have an extensive math and business background. I am a patient and effective instructor. I enjoy teaching and working with children and adults and enjoy sharing their learning experiences. I am able to modify teaching styles depending on student's needs and abilities.

My strongest area of expertise in teaching is reading. I have taught it for years. I have come to the conclusion through both personal experience, observation of other master teachers and through current educational research that it is most necessary to teach reading and math daily in a systematic manner while exposing the students to a learning rich environment(a classroom reading corner full of books is ideal for this). Research shows that a child needs 100 exposures, repetitions of for example the word “fox” to learn how to read it and make it their own. I have worked with children in the public school system for thirty-four years as a classroom teacher, Title I augmented reading teacher and as a media specialist. Largely due to my years experience as a reading teacher my class of inner city children scored in the top one percentile on the Georgia Criterion Reference Test(GA CRCT)
