My style of teaching varies with the child, their age, personality, subject, and amount of time we have. Besides teaching 2nd grade religion for 14 years my daughter has ADD. I have worked with kids who need to keep moving while they learn, to kids who need complete quiet. Some kids are more visual learners; others need to act the lesson out, while others do fine quietly reading. The important thing is to make it interesting so they WANT to learn. I was a teaching assistant for past 1 year for 2 different subjects for 2 semesters. I used to conduct lab sessions, correct home works, labs and quizzes. It was my responsibility to make students understand the lab and help them to get the solutions. In this past 1 year I came to know that every student has different level of understanding and we have to clear their doubt by getting at their level. We have to be always fully prepared with complete curriculum. Practical examples and theory are equally important. Before finalizing the class schedule for a semester it is important to understand average understanding of the class. Tutor should ask questions frequently to find out whether class is following or not and accordingly he/she can change the way of teaching.
