A Little Bit About Me...

I have 24 years of teaching experience in grades 7-12. These experiences have been at public and private school settings. The subjects I have taught include various levels of mathematics, physical science, American history, world history, Spanish and physical education. In addition, I have tutored students periodically during this time span, mostly in mathematics. I have also tutored adults on occasion.
As an educator, especially in mathematics, I want my students to not just arrive at the right answer, but understand the process, as well. I want students to have a solid foundation in number theory. I also want them to see the connection between the more elementary levels of mathematics and the more abstact higher levels. Throughout my college years, I was involved in coaching high school aged students in baseball as well as younger kids in a baseball camp. During my last year of college, I helped with a after school tutoring program that included students up to the sixth grade. All subjects were covered and tutoring was done in one-on-one as well as small group settings. My bachelor's degree is from a self designed major I had developed to best fit the needs I saw beneficial for teaching in a non-traditional classroom environment. I later accepted an internship that fell in alignment with this self designed major working in the St. Louis Science Center.
