My comments on tutoring English ESOL : I taught ESL to a S. Korean family - 2 children and their mother - for 1 year. This is a tricky skill that requires serious fine-tuning and constant revision!

I try to customize my sessions per my clients' needs. Everyone has their own unique learning style, and there are challenges and strengths, alike, that materialize from those styles.

I have four years of teaching experience at graduate school. I was pursuing my Ph.D. at the University of Toledo for two years before I got a job. I graduated from University of California, Davis with a master degree in chemistry in two years. At both schools, I worked as a teaching assistant. I am a big believer in real life examples and visual cues. I write every little detail so that one can always look back to their notes and have no problem revising. Courses such as biology and psychology are comprised of a ton of theory, therefore diagrams, frequent quizzes and examples play an integral part to learning. I describe the lengthy terms and processes by breaking them down, drawing and explaining the origin of the words. On the other hand, mathematics and statistics require consistent practice. I solve the tougher questions and show the correct way to display one's work. Speaking from experience, most students make mistakes because they do not write the solution correctly.
